๐ˆ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ž: To add to their service offering and differentiate themselves from other firms, the client has been looking for a Forensic Partner for a number of years and has had people come and go unsuccessfully. The client felt that a lot of money had been wasted on recruitment fees, not to mention other costs associated with a bad hire such as reputation, morale, training time and salary.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ: Michael Edelstein (Director) presented a proposal for a retainer to ensure that we can dedicate the time to find the right person. The client had accepted the proposal at full fee. We then mapped out the whole market in Sydney and Australia, attended a number of events and training sessions held for Forensic practitioners in Sydney and met with at least 15 potential candidates to discuss the opportunity. Within 6 weeks we narrowed it down to three ideal candidates that had a solid network and could further develop the practice with the resources and support of this firm.

Two of the candidates were interviewed and one was seen as a perfect fit, and was made an attractive offer negotiated and advised by us, which was subsequently accepted.

๐Ž๐ฎ๐ญ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž: Ten years on, the candidate is still there and the client has a solid Forensic Practice which would not have otherwise been possible without our recruitment service.

But be prepared to invest in the process upfront and work on an exclusive basis as itโ€™s a lot of work to do it properly. By exclusive, I mean exclusive!

We are not interested in a CV race against you, your HR team or other agencies as we very quickly lose motivation to deliver – keep in mind the market is very candidate driven and the demand is extremely high – why would we work on something where we are not guaranteed income, when we have plenty of other clients that are happy to work with us exclusively where we are guaranteed to get paid for our time.

As an accounting partner – how motivated would you be if you had a client that said I will pay $x to do my tax and financials but I am also doing it myself, and have given it to my bookkeeper to try and do and also 5 other accounting firms – and whoever provides the best tax return in the fastest time that’s who I will pay. If you’re a busy, self-respecting accounting firm – I think we both know the answer that client will be getting!
